If any one is interested, here are maintence instructions for several types of Franklin Radial Buffers. Partly from my own experiences, but mostly from CNR's Maintence Regulation book.

http://www.trainweb.org/j.dimech/6167/e1rb.html

Cheers,

Joe

Thanks! 2926 uses the uses the same type of buffer as 6167, and we certainly can use the info. Would there be any issues with printing this out so we can have it in our own records?

Mike,

This info is contained in the Folio. ATSF had higher maintenance standards than the current legal minimums...

I'll check what's on the webpage against the folio just to be certain; I asked Bob about this though, and he said to go ahead and print it out. I know the folio should have the info we'll need, but it doesn't hurt to be sure (I've had enough experience with tech manuals that "had all the information you need" that didn't, so making sure we do have it is a bit of a habit with me).

Mike,

Think old school. The ATSF Railway took great pride in their machinery. We are reaping the benefits of it.

I know that, thank ye very much; still, it don't hurt to check.

Besides how many people with engines equipped with Franklin Radial Buffers have access to ATSF maintenance instructions?

I have seen a few digital copies of the ATSF Locomotive Folio floating around...

The Santa Fe steam folio isn't posted on the net, the copies are on disc and floating around. You'll have to find someone who has one. Otherwise find a copy or an original of the folio. It is very comprehensive.

Or you guys could enjoy the CNR instructions, which are now readily available to all, for free.
