Post subject:  IRM Diesel Days - Parade of Power

For those of you in the Midwest this coming weekend in advance of Train Festival, you may want to consider stopping by the Illinois Railway Museum to see the country's best collection of historic diesels operating for the annual Diesel Days event. Over 20 diesels are scheduled to operate in the Parade of Power including CB&Q E5A 9911A and the Nebraska Zephyr; C&NW F7A 411 and a set of C&NW bi-level commuter cars; the first Fairbanks-Morse locomotive built, MILW H10-44 760; the first SD7 built, SP 1518; the only surviving Baldwin center-cab, MN&S DT6-6-2000 21; and IRM's newest acquisition, C&NW SD40-2 6847. Among the diesels scheduled to operate are products of EMD, GE, Alco, Baldwin, Fairbanks-Morse and Whitcomb. Heritage units owned by the Union Pacific will be on display, including the C&NW "heritage unit" and the last remaining C44-9W's still in C&NW colors. The highlight of the pageant will be the debut of CB&Q SD24 504 following its seven-year restoration to original condition and "Chinese Red" livery. It will be an event not to be missed by any fan of historic diesel power!
