National Capital Trolley Museum will be open for a one-day event on July 19. The program includes a preview of Street Car Hall, our new display car house. In addition, the Visitor Center will also be open. Outside on the parking lot, visitors can inspect autos displayed by members of the Chrysler Car Club. The Club hosts its annual picnic at the Museum each July and we decided to combine the car show with a second one-day event. The outdoor car show is free. There is a $2 admission charge to the Visitor Center and Street Car Hall.

The Street Car Hall display includes three Washington DC cars that have not been accessible to the public for many years: Capital Traction 522 (1898 single truck), DC Transit 1430 (1944 PCC), and Washington Railway and Electric 650 (1912 center door). The display also includes four European trams.

On the construction front, Museum volunteers have begun installation of the overhead wire support system, and track construction continues in the vicinity of the loop and yards in the Visitor Center. The Museum staff hopes to resume operations on the demonstration railway this Fall.

In the meantime, please join us on July 19.

Wesley:

A little too far for me to visit but I sure want to. Could you task someone to take some photos and post them on your website or on Flickr or somewhere like that and let us know. How about a video on Utube?

You guys are fortunate to have what will undoubtedly be a top-of-the line facility and operation. I'm looking forward to the ARM 2010(?) annual meeting to visit and ride.

Good luck!
