http://www.wgem.com/global/story.asp?s=10648633 While the entity in question-Mark Twain's home in Hannibal, MO-is not railway preservation, the fundraising idea (they seek to raise $10 million by 2010) is interesting. While I"m not sure of the mechanics in using Facebook to seek funds, I thought it worthwhile to pass on here. |

Not sure I understand this approach...what's the difference between asking your friends for money, and asking your "Facebook friends" for money? Aren't 90% of your Facebook friends people that you already know? In the case of an organization, most of their Facebook friends are likely already members, or on their (e)mailing list... Unless they're buying multiple email lists and "mass-friending" folks... |

Our Museum was recently put on Facebook. I'm not sure I understand it, but it is interesting to watch the Fans and Friends list grow. It does seem to grow in unexpected directions. It is cheap advertising. Only time will tell if it will increase the attendance. |
