About two years ago, I asked my doctor about how long a tetanus immunization was good for. She said "about ten years". Since it had been at least ten (and probably much longer) since my last injection, I requested and received a "shot" a few weeks later. Persons involved in the physical aspects of railway preservation, with old lumber, jagged steel and similar hazards should ask about tetanus immunization during their next doctor visit.

Bob,
Good advice. All too often volunteers overlook these things. My doctor wrote on a script the date of my most recent tetanus shot and suggested that I keep it in my wallet in the event of an injury--and as a reminder just in case he forgets it's time for reimmunization. -- Ray
