About two years ago, I asked my doctor about how long a tetanus immunization was good for. She said "about ten years". Since it had been at least ten (and probably much longer) since my last injection, I requested and received a "shot" a few weeks later. Persons involved in the physical aspects of railway preservation, with old lumber, jagged steel and similar hazards should ask about tetanus immunization during their next doctor visit. |

Bob, Good advice. All too often volunteers overlook these things. My doctor wrote on a script the date of my most recent tetanus shot and suggested that I keep it in my wallet in the event of an injury--and as a reminder just in case he forgets it's time for reimmunization. -- Ray |
