Post subject:  Has anyone railfanned Kokomo or Tipton, IN

I was recently in Kokomo and could NOT get over all of the diamonds and interchanges. Rail America had a 4 axle unit outside of the old station with TP&W on the cab but the Rail America logo and colors on the body. I got to see this unit go through Greentown, IN presumably on it's way to Gas City.

Looking at an aerial map of the area is incredible. Both seeing right of ways that used to exist, and what is still around. Apparently Wisconsin Southern and CSX interchange with Rail America. My question is, what railroads USED to go through these areas? The NKP shops were in Frankfort. A Rail America CERA scale house off of E. Deffenbaugh St. near the intersection with it and Home Ave.and had Norfolk and Western scale slips all over the floor. Tipton has a HUGE WYE. Was there a service terminal or shop there? Where was the interlocking tower located at, at the North Rd diamonds and interchange track. Same goes for the interchange tracks, scale house and diamonds that I mentioned earlier?

With the opalescent glass factory, salvage yard, grain silos, Chrysler plant and so many other things, that must have been a really happening and colorful place. Grain, sand, borax, rolled steel and scrap steel cars, boxcars, etc. WOW!
