Post subject:  dust settles on the extension to mound house

Reported by Stephen Stough in "VirginiaAndTruckee1976" on yahoo groups:

Quote:
So far, the subcommittee of the Nevada Commission for the Reconstruction of the
V&T Railway has come up with plans for two -- just two -- run days over the
commission's track in 2009. One day would be a special primarily for
"dignitaries," however that is defined, followed by one or more runs the same
day for the public. This would be with V&T Railroad equipment. The second run
day, approximately a month later, would be with a combination of Feather River
Shortline and Commission-owned equipment, after repainting of the coaches by the
Gold Hill Historical Society.

This is all just in the planning stages at the moment. The second of the two
run days is problemmatic in that the two coaches planned for the event are not
on the property at the moment; and neither has the Gold Hill Historical Society
committed to performing the restoration work.

There is no interim or permanent track agreement with the V&T Railroad, the
Sierra Railroad or anyone else this year, and judging by the above plans, there
may not be.

Sorry for the disappointing news.
