But, of course, you don't get ALL the mileage unless you ride across the Chesapeake Bay on the car float barge--like I did. <:-D

As a historical side note, Southern Traction ( Texas Electric) car 316 was one of the cars sold by TE to a developer in South Dallas on the edge of the city, just south of the railroad tracks and the Sears complex. When in use in South Dallas, some were used as houses of ill repute. After being forced to relocate them, they were transferred out of the city to land off Loop 12 where they were used as flea market stalls. Car 316 was one of the lucky cars to be sold as most were cut up except for one used as a foot bridge after the body was removed. There was still one car body out there in use at a midget car track last time I was there.

In the course of my business travels this year I stumbled upon the Interurban Railway Museum, in the old Texas Electric station/substation (and adjacent to DART's Plano station) in the old downtown area of Plano, TX. Nicely done local museum!

Car 360 is displayed outside in a covered area:

Yes Texas Electric #360, and the recent photo of Texas Transportation freight motor #2, show both pieces very nicely displayed under cover. But, both of these pieces of electric equipment still have their trolley poles. Wouldn't it have made sense for a short section of fake electric wire to have been put up under the shelters and to raise a pole to this wire, to show the casual observer how the equipment was powered? The side braces are right there! After all of the expense in putting up these elaborate protective structures, how much more would a little bit of wire cost? Or is it just me, being unreasonably crabby this evening?

To update the original message, we are looking at a deadline of March 31 to commit to running this trip. We would like to sell at least another 11 tickets to this trip before March 31 in order to make a firm commitment.

If you are interested in riding on this rare-mileage excursion with us, please contact us at info@eldcps.org or purchase tickets from our online store at store.eldcps.org.

We are hoping we are able to run this trip, which will serve as an excellent preview of what we would like to accomplish with our own dining cars. Proceeds from this trip will go towards Diners 741 and 470.
