Is there anything to report on any ESC committee meetings lately?

Thanks,
Robby

Our fall meeting was held at Strasburg right after the TRAIN convention. There were some actions taken in NBIC and ESC. We will be working on inspection procedures for fillet welded staybolts, we are recommending a limit of 7500 psi for threaded staybolts and limits on material to be used for threaded staybolts.

Minutes of NBIC should be on their website in the near future, and TRAIN may publish ESC minutes.

Thank you for the reply. I will be interested in hearing the proposed procedures for fillet welded staybolts as this may have an impact on SP 3420 and its front tube sheet. For those who do not know the tube sheet was fillet welded on both sides of the sheet to the first barrel coarse. Some of the issues that concern me with fillet welded staybolts do not have the same impact on 3420 due to different stresses and corrosion mechanisms.

Thanks,
Robby
