Did any company make a desktop style 26 brake. If so, what was it called? I'm interested in a desktop brake system that is non-electronic and has roughly the same plumbing as a regular 26 system. Does anybody have any great ideas about where or how to put a 26 brake control stand in an E or F unit so that it's actually operator friendly. We have looked at a couple of locations, but they are all marginal at best. Thanks, Robert |

Well if you MUST insist on putting a desktop control stand in a cab unit, I guess this is the way to do it. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=160708 |

I think a granite countertop would look better. |

You know, you can rag on this stuff all you want, but from a practical, day to day operating standpoint, I'll take the cup holder, built-in clip board equipped unit any day of the week. It really is hard to get dispatcher's bulletins with sometimes 80+ messages to fit behind the automatic brake valve! Also, I find the desktops preferable to the really clunky and way outsized new AAR type stand on the new ES44's. |
