I was just looking at Tim Bain's Klondike Mines Railway web page mentioned in today's brief (nice site by the way, Tim), and I noticed that KMR no. 3 is a Vauclain compound. I always thought the Manitou & Pike's Peak cog engines were the only ones left. Are there any more?
rjenkins@railfan.net |

Richard,
Both the KMR no. 3 and the M&PP rack engines were mentioned in a discussion of Vauclain compounds a few months back. They are thought to be the only remaining Vauclain compound steam locomotives. Surviving World Steam Locomotives james1@pernet.net |
