you can see the 5 tanks. I was just down there yesterday but I didnt look for this location but I know it now.

Thanks for posting this aerial view. I can now understand why the signals were needed as it looks like all of the five tracks of the NKP's yard went across U.S. route 12! Also, it now appears that the Sinclair building and tanks were to the northeast of the tracks, not the southwest as I thought they might have been. The tracks just above the Nickel Plate's are the old New York Central and I think right above them may be Monon yard tracks. West is to the left in the photo and east to the right.

I was looking at the present day Amtrack/US12 crossing.
Look at the satellite picture and some of the buildings are
still there.

pfft, I drove right across it sunday and didnt recognize it, its just before the Blue Chip Casino westbound.

The NKP line does not go all the way up, its this Greenway trail now, SouthShore Freight owns this part of the line now and the NKP crossing line at Carroll.

looks like one building is still there just east of the tanks.

I've modeled the nkp/South Shore crossing in HO part of the layout plan.
