ATSF Wrecking Crane, free to a good home: in 1971, Orange Empire Railway Museum acquired an incomplete ATSF wrecking crane. ATSF 199774 was built by Industrial Works in 1909. Its steam-powered operating mechanism had been removed by the Santa Fe as part of a change to Diesel propulsion that was halted prior to completion. Today, the wrecker in fair condition cosmetically, with its boom and related cabling still intact, but without the operating mechanism and the rear portion of the cab (several portions of the rear cab walls are on hand and would be included). <p>In 1976, the Museum acquired a far more complete wrecking crane, SP MW 7090 (also built by Industrial Works). In reviewing the collection, the Museum's Board of Directors has determined that the 199774 is a duplicate which is surplus to the Museum's needs. It is being offered on a no-cost basis, "as-is, where-is", to any preservation organization which has the resources to remove it from Museum property. I'm looking for a small wrecking crane for our collection, but it being located out in California, and undoubtedly equipped with friction bearings makes it way too expensive to try and relocate to Pennsylvania.<p>I eventually would like to acquire a 150 ton and 120 ton cranes to complete our collection of derricks for our train wreck exhibit. We have a diesel 250 tonner and a steam 200 tonner already.<p><p><br>
