Back in the 80's Quaker Square was the 'layover destination' for CVSR trains, and it was almost worth it.
Decades later I was contracted to investigate the condition of the two locomotives on site, one was the ex-Burlington 0-6-0 and the other was the German narrow gauge 0-4-0t painted 'Thomas blue'. Both were on the CSX main line side.

Apparently the property has changed hands again, but no mention of what's happening to the two locomotives:

I can tell you THEN that the CB&Q 0-6-0 was probably beyond hope except for a lawn ornament; jacket and boiler severely deteriorated, smokebox open to the weather, and smokestack just teetering on the smokebox. Don't ask me how I know this. This was one of those awful cabs with a firebox extending all the way back to the tender, too.
The little 0-4-0 was in surprisingly good shape - then - but there's a YouTube video out there of a recent investigation of the site that shows much deterioration since.

But that Burlington 0-6-0 is probably the only survivor of it's kind. # is 1548 Baldwin #38838, 1912, and notes show it has been offered for sale. Now with an ownership change its probably more endangered. The 0-4-0 is 24" gauge, Henschel & Sohn (Kassel) #23033, 1936.

I wasn't able to find the facebook post mentioned in the Q locomotive profile (it would have helped if the commenter had included a link in his comment).

I emailed the reporter in the link to the article you posted, we'll see if he heard anything.

I received a response:

"Thanks for your readership and for reaching out about this. Kyle Craven, the managing director of the Quaker Square Redevelopment Group, said the group will be preserving the trains and that the group plans to repaint them.

The Quaker Square site has some very interesting history! It’s been a pleasure to report on this so far.

All the best,

Patrick Williams

Thanks for the update.... appreciate it.

But having been all over them a few years ago, needs a lot more than paint even as a static 'preservation'.

Hopefully somebody in this rail universe gets contracted to do it, and not Earl Scheib.
