already has a good website of its own, we'll mention it
briefly and provide a link, rather than double up on coverage. We intend to be
international in scope.
Most readers will already be knowledgeable about railway preservation, but if you're
simply a curious "browser" of the web who has stumbled across us, welcome.
Our field of interest concerns the preservation and restoration of railway
locomotives, rolling stock, track, structures and rights-of-way. Most of this
work is done by volunteer organizations, whose members spend much free time preserving and
interpreting this fascinating part of history, without which nations would never have
developed away from waterways. We are more than sentimental nostalgists, and think
as much in terms of the future as we do the past. You may even be inspired to join a
nearby rail preservation organization (or start a new one yourself), and further
information about doing so will be provided soon. |
