A couple of years ago there was a video on youtube of a privately owned 2 foot shay in the Bradford PA area, the owner apparently opened up his private RR to invited guests once a year, and someone posted video of the event and locomotive, (It has been gone from youtube for a long time now) Anyone know anything about the shay or its history? or if it is still operational? heck better yet how does one get to see it in operation.... (or find a way to get an invite to see it)

From what I can tell based off of what I've heard - yes it's still operational, yes it's location is a mystery except to those who know or who has already been there. It's a private railroad - so the owner is the only one who gets to invite friends and those whom he/she wants to show off the railroad to. As to how to get an invite? I personally wish I knew how to do that, but if the owner wants to invite me, there are ways to reach me. I'm sure he/she would find ways to contact whomever he/she wants.

Thanks Charlie & Big Jim,
The video I had seen was amazing and it was a great looking little shay, I can't recall what other equipment was in the video, but it was a stunning private RR. I can understand the owners desire to keep it private, but damn it was a wonderful collection of stuff that was shot, and well, 2 foot shay... it really doesnt get to much cooler than that. (Imho)
hopefully someday there will be footage of it out there for public consumption again.

If you google 'high country railroad', you should be able to locate some youtube videos of the shay in operation on the now-defunct high country railroad in golden, CO.

Here's a link to one of the videos:
