Any info on this crane shown on Google Earth?

https://www.google.com/maps/@35.6102203 ... a=!3m1!1e3

It is about a block from the intersection of Sycamore Street and Sycamore Alley.

Looks like they tore out the track and left it sitting there. Interesting.

Greetings:
I'm not saying that this is the crane, however American Creosote Works had a similar one at their plant in Jackson. If I remember correctly, we (Illinois Railway Museum) were allowed to use it when we loaded their Vulcan 0-4-0T #7 onto a flatcar for shipment to IRM in the early 1970s'. Dennis Daugherty: is this the one?
Interestingly, to the left of the crane appears to be the foundation/inspection pits of a roundhouse...

Is that a cab for another crane to the left of it (when looking down the boom, cab at far end)?

Look even further to the left, was this the location of a roundhouse? Marks in the soil makes it look like it was a large one, maybe 18-20 stalls.

Knowing how heavy RR cranes are, how would one go about removing this crane? Would most likely have to take it apart to get it out on a couple semi trailers I would think?

Pulled up the USGS 7.5' topo map and it shows a roundhouse there: https://caltopo.com/map.html#ll=35.61032,-88.82339&z=17&b=t

It is the site of an Illinois Central roundhouse. Still need info on the crane.

If you look at the site in Google Earth and check the archived images, there is a version from 3/10/2017 that shows there are in fact TWO cranes there. They've been there for quite some time. Google Earth has an image from 1997 and the roundhouse had been long gone by that point, though I can't tell if the cranes are there at that time.

Jackson, Tennessee was a division point on the IC back in the 1900s. The line south of Jackson was the Water Valley Division, which J.L. Jones ran freight on prior to being promoted to a passenger engineer.

I had the same thoughts as J.David, being on that project with him but I realized it is the wrong location for American Creosote which I believe was in East Union with a rail connection, a small incredibly poor town on Jackson's south east side . A C's location had become a Super Fund clean up site after it had closed. American Creosote had 2 if not 3 former steam locomotive cranes converted to diesel near the time we were there. One of their cranes had 2 deep groves running up the back side of it's cab , very strange .
To me ,the locomotive crane in question looks like an Illinois Central American Crane Model 830 . Since the Illinois Central painted it's cranes black with white lettering and is known, in the passed ,for selling off their cranes , this maybe the case. The other crane looks like a North West crawler.

Hey John T,
There is a yellow wrecker with a bridge boom sitting nearby in Hutcherson Metals scrap yard on H O Forgy Dr. near E. Chester ST along with cabooses and hopper cars.
I suggest you get hold of someone at the nearby NC&StL Depot and Rail Road Museum , open 10:00 to 3:00. You might get them to text you pictures with the info that you want on your mystery crane. I'm sure they know were the Illinois Central Division Offices building is. Your crane is almost directly across the street about 500 feet or so from it. A token donation to that museum might be a lubricant .
Good Luck.

Thanks for the tip. This is probably the crane at Hutcherson

American
J3142 40 ton 06-53 DE US Navy T. C. Corps
US Army Transportation Corps. #C-273 Schenectady, NY
US Army #C-273 Milan Arsenal Milan, TN
Hutcherson Metals Jackson, TN 2007

It and five bay widow cabooses show on Googol Earth. I will follow up with the depot museum and see what happens.
