 Post subject: Caboose trucks campaign

We are doing well but need to try to meet our target, the first set of trucks is coming from Washington and trucking loading and unloading is going to be $3750. So please help, the trucks are being generously donated, and the Demolition of the caboose is done, with help from Facebook followers in the Renton area Drew Black in particular, we thank them so much.
The three or four trucks in Montana will be next but we don't know a price yet.

I recently moved a pair of heavy Andrews trucks from Denver to Chicago using a truck broker that was 50% less than the other brokers I had called and they arranged for quick and convenient delivery with very short notice from me. I didn't catch where the above frame and trucks came from, was this a UP caboose somewhere? The body was too far gone to be saved apparently.

The caboose was in Renton WA, we aren't sure which CA1 it was but have saved the wood above the door which will tell us, its an OSL caboose we think anyway. Body was rotten as a pear under the cupola.

I noticed that you marked "save" on brake parts, the end railing and ladders, couplers etc, and it looks like the frame too, excuse my lack of knowledge but would you be able to essentially drop one of your caboose bodies down on this frame?

Not to speak for Mike, but, at least in theory, it would be possible to put another body right back on the frame. This would be especially true if the body and frame were of the same class and built by the same builder at the same time. Certainly one of Mike’s UP caboose bodies will be a perfect match for this frame.

Sadly the frame will be cut , the costs of loading it and moving it preclude saving it, its approximately $7000 to $8000 to move it here without cranes each end as its a wide load. Also in order to put another body on the frame all the siding would have to be removed, it would be a nightmare job as they were never designed to come apart again. The CA1's are far more flimsy than the CA's despite having steel built into them.

Crazy Idea-Rotate the frame 90 degrees so it rests on one side-if it holds together. LARGE forklift could do the trick. Completely brace it. Now it would n0 longer be a wide-load and may not be a high-load either. Mind expanding drugs can be helpful.
