You know, I'm wondering if it was actually a color photo or a tinted photo. The black and white builder's photo of 4501 is relatively ubiquitous. If it is actually a color photo and anyone has a very high resolution version suitable for a large print, perhaps they ought to get in touch with the Museum of the American Railroad in Frisco, TX, who now own the locomotive. It might make a nice addition to their collection.

Is it available to view anywhere on the net?

Here is a picture of one of their flue sheets getting cut out on a waterjet machine. They posted lots of photos of the process on their FB page.

All high tech and doesn't warp or harm the sheet. Its all because of the precision half tennis ball on the nozzle.
I had a link block for 1522 waterjet cut and all I had to do was polish the surfaces to fit it up.

The BLW color image of Frisco #4501 is a TRUE photographic image taken on sheet film. It resides in a private collection and I'm not at liberty to say who owns it.

That's what I was afraid of. Darned shame, it would be a beautiful image.
