 Post subject: Como, Colorado 2018 Operating Schedule and New Rolling Stock

On the South Park Rail website you can read about the Como steam operation dates planned for 2018 and two new cars coming to Como. There is a fundraiser there to pay for shipping the cars. I encourage everyone to contribute.

The South Park Rail Society (SPRS) has been offered two ex D&RGW freight cars from the Ashby Collection for use in the Como Project. The cars are being donated to the SPRS however they need to be shipped from their current location to the rail yard in Como, Colorado.

What, and where, is the Ashby Collection?

The Ashby family were the long-time operator of the Georgetown Loop operation until their contract was not renewed. When they left the loop they took their own equipment with them. Some went to storage and use at the Colorado RR Museum. Other pieces went to a storage location near the Royal Gorge tourist train which is operated by the Ashby family.
