Hello...I'm involved with a group associated with the Hampton History Museum in Hampton Virginia that is in the process of restoring the last known streetcar that ran in Hampton and Newport News, Va. This car is car No. 390 which was built to a Baltimore design in 1917. The car ran until 1946 and was used as a home until 1977. The Baltimore Streetcar Museum then got the car and stored it until August of this year (2017) when it was donated to the Hampton History Museum. There is a web site (under an update at present) and a Facebook page for the project. Just do a search for "Streetcar 390".

The intent of the museum and our group is to restore the car as it would have appeared during the 1930's as a one man car. While we plan to restore it cosmetically we would like it to have the appearance of a operating car. We have been lucky so far and have some parts that were missing but are in need of more. We know that some parts may not be able to be found and are prepared to have replica parts made if needed. Since we are not the usual type of museum that has operating cars we don't have much in the way of something to trade and most parts will either have to be donated, bought or replicated. I am posting a list below of what we are looking for and if you have anything or know where we might find something please let me know. I'll update this list from time to time.

Also note....390 is a near duplicate of the Brill semi convertibles that were built for Baltimore in 1917 (13 window) There is one Baltimore semi convertible that still exists and luckly its a sister Baltimore car of the same design. This car is Baltimore No. 5748 at the Seashore Trolley Museum in Maine.

List to follow in my next post. Parts not listed are either being fabricated or the exact type of part is unknown at this time. Some parts we are looking for differ from what 390 and Baltimore semi convertibles had because of the difficulty finding certain parts and having to make compromises and use facsimile parts for cosmetic reasons.

List of parts 10-8-17

1-K type controller...We have the cover and base of a GE K35JJ controller but is missing the top plate. We will also need another GE K35JJ or a Westinghouse K35u2. We don't need the contacts, drum or other interior parts. We might be able to use a K-12 or K-28 if a K35 can't be found.

2- G.E. MS or G.E. MR-5 line breakers or similar.

2- motorman's air brake valves similar to Westinghouse O.V.X. or SY2 types.
Update....we can use a SV-2 type also. We might consider using a SA-2.

2- vintage air brake gauges for same.

1-air tank 16"x 48" can have a small hole since this is for display.

1-air tank 10"x 24" can have a small hole since this is for display.

1- governor for compressor unknown type at this time (does not have to work)
Update...Westinghouse "G" type governor.

1- resistance grid. Since this is a static car the grid can be unusable. I don't know
the exact type but something similar.
Update...the car had two. One was a 24 grid and the other was a 18 grid.

9-Brill interior body lights (interior deck roof ceiling) light fixtures and milk glass
shades. Baltimore car 5748 at Seashore and Baltimore car 4533 at BSM have these
same fixtures and i have a picture of them if someone needs to see what they look
like. A picture of one of 4533's lights is below.

1- Brill motorman's stool

2- Ohio Brass type trolley catchers or something similar.

2- trolley wheels and harps for a PCC type pole. Parts can be worn as they
will not be used.

22- leather standee strap hangers. Original or reproductions.

2- Van Dorn No. 5 couplers or type that is close.

8- Brill folding step hinges or any folding step and door hardware.

2- Gooseneck hand brake handles.

Hi...I've contacted Gomaco and they are supposed to get back to me next week.
Depending on what we find or what Gomaco can do we may or may not go that
route. It will also depend on what costs are.

Hello...
To give an idea of what interior light fixtures we are looking for i'm hopefully including a couple of pictures. This picture is of a Crouse Hinds fixture thats is very similiar to
what was in the car. http://p0.craigupload.com/d/a749/13700/163862.jpg
And this picture is the one light fixture base we found in the car.https://norfolk.craigslist.org/com/6291600111.html
Again...these light fixtures were identical to types used on 1917-18 semi convertibles , one man single truck 1920's rebuilds (such as 4533 at BSM today) and some articulated trains built from semi convertibles and open cars in Baltimore. I'm assuming these were a common off the shelf item that could be bought back in the day. I'm also assuming that other companies bought these also.

Our list has again been updated. We now have both "golden glow" headlights we need
and have leads on seats and a compressor. We still need the other parts including
the interior lights in this link...https://norfolk.craigslist.org/grp/d/li ... 40474.html

A little update on the leather strap hangers...We are looking for 22 Rico No. 7 type hangers. It can be just the handle or the handle with a broken leather strap. If you need more information or a picture let me know.
