Unusual story. An automobile went off the road and crashed into a coach at National Railroad Museum in January. Sadly, the 24-year-old driver of the vehicle died.

The damaged coach is now up for auction: http://www.bigtrucksalvage.com/salvage_ ... rvey_sheet

A news story of the automobile accident is here: http://wbay.com/2017/01/09/crash-near-n ... -closures/

The ad says this coach was "restored" in 2007, however I would probably call this a renovation. The ends were cut open to make it an artificial old timey open end car. It was nice as a tourist railroad coach, but not particularly historic. I wonder what was the car's heritage, it appears to be a commuter coach, perhaps an old Reading MU? Whoever might want it would probably be interested in trucks, brakes, generator, seats, windows, and miscellaneous furnishings.

The damage is pretty well restricted to part of one wall it looks like. An enterprising tourist line could use this as an opportunity to add an ADA accessible coach to their consist if the cut out that bad section and install a side door. Even replacing the bad section in kind wouldn't be too difficult.

The car was one of three coaches acquired by Pennsylvania Power & Light for an exhibit in the early 70’s on nuclear power call the “The Energy of Man”. They purchased the cars directly from the Reading Railroad and contracted the railroad to refurbish them. So essentially, the Reading passenger car shop personnel modified this car to its open platform configuration. Sometime shortly after the conclusion of the exhibit, all three were sold to the museum.
