In 1912 BCER 961 was built by the American Locomotive and General Electric for the Oregon Electric as #21. It served as part of their fleet until 1946 when it was bought by the BCER brought to the lower mainland and renamed as 961.
Painted in a BCER maroon red the electric locomotive served the company until BCE was taken over by the BC Government in 1961. As part of the now BC Hydro properties the freight motor was painted yellow with a distinctive red arrow on its sides.
In 1980 the 961 was sold to Edmonton Transit and moved to Alberta to help in the expansion of that system’s transit operations. It was painted in Edmonton Transit colours, white and blue, and renamed as 2001.
Once the transit expansion was finished the locomotive was turned over to the Edmonton Radial Railway Society (ERRS) and was basically stored under a tarp for many years at Fort Edmonton.
In 2012 FVHRS acquired the locomotive and moved it back to BC.

The asking price is in the low 5 figure range. Make an offer.

It is FOB Surrey BC Canada. All crane and transportation costs are to the purchasers account. Also all duties payable at the boarder if it goes to the US.

So what happened that made you choose to get rid of it? It's only been 4 years since the decision was made to acquire it, and it would seem, at a glance, like it might fit into your collection pretty well, being local to the area.

Our main focus is on BCER Interurban Trams and Heritage passenger rides, we now have three trams. When we acquired the Freight Motor we only had two Interurbans and had hoped that we could convert it to a baggage car to contain the Generator and Rectifier to run the second tram. After it got here we realized that it was too heavy for a baggage car because of all of the steel that was built into the frame. It has been sitting as a static display sense we got it and we could use the track space for other equipment that we have.

Maybe the West Coast Railway Association in Squamish would be interested.

West Coast Railway Association is not interested in the whole Freight Motor, but would like some of the parts on it.

That could be anywhere between $10,000.00, and $49,999.99...

...And is this "5 figures" in US or Canadian Dollar$ ?

Or are you really looking for "5 Figures?"

The five figure price we are looking for is in US Dollars. As you said between $10000 and $49999 would be in the low end five figure number. Make an offer and I will take it to the board for consideration.
