Thanks for the newspaper image. I really hoped this was an old foamer's tale for obvious reasons.

For what it's worth -- there was a high-school graduate from Union, class of 1968, by the name of Jeffrey Dearing. As of 2007 he was alive and well in British Columbia and asking classmates to e-mail him.

Perhaps he married early and had a son young enough to be killed, but I find no obituary for that name.
