In the 1960s, John Springer's father worked as a tower operator on the New York Central. As "Young Springer," John was befriended by the crews and allowed to ride the trains and experience railroading first-hand. http://thetracksidephotographer.com/201 ... o-chatham/ Edd Fuller, Editor The Trackside Photographer http://thetracksidephotographer.com/ |

As a teenager, I rode the New York Central from New York, NY to Ithica, NY. It followed the classic Hudson River route. My brother and I ate lunch in the diner and I still remember the silver and chinaware. Ted Miles railfan |
