Opportunities for railfanning pop up unexpectedly and it pays to be prepared. On a recent business trip, Kevin Tomasic discovered that there is a place for cell phones in railroad photography.

Interesting... I actually shoot photos and videos using my phone all the time, so I'm no stranger to it.

I was just showing some photos I had printed out from some Pete Lerro charters, I was asked what kind of camera I used and I honestly couldn’t remember if it was my Nikon or my iPhone.
