this topic is a follow-up my previous "would anyone be interested in a Y6b replica" because it got locked. :( when I asked the question about building a new y6b, most of you said you wouldn't be interested. well, I've fleshed out the concept a little more, and I've decided to go for an all-welded boiler design. that being said, do you think this would even be successful?

As others have said in the previous thread: the size of a Y6B and the similarities it shares with other existing steam engines are factors that make this new build unfavorable compared to other candidates.

You'd need a LOT more than just a welded convection shell to make this build of much use. It would be at least a legitimate "Y6c" and I think you'll have an intricate task finding enough technology to make the necessary consensus of historical and tech-interested folks to finance it 'as written'.

But you need to put the finance plan together with the technical feasibility plan before you have much hope of doing this even as a live-steam project.
