Folks, if you are within a couple hours drive of the Altoona, PA area why not take a ride on the ONLY steam locomotive powered excursion train in the entire western half of Pennsylvania, The Everett Railroad in Hollidaysburg! Powered by a beautifully restored 1920 ALCO, Cooke Works 2-6-0 Mogul type #11, the Everett RR runs one hour round trips about one weekend per month. The trips go from their new depot just off RT 36 in Hollidaysburg to Brookes Mills or Roaring Spring. The tickets are inexpensive and the ride is pleasant.

Here, #11 pulls into the restored former PRR station at Roaring Spring, PA with one of the monthly Ice Cream Special trains. Patrons get a scoop of Ritchie's Dairy ice cream during a half hour layover at Roaring Spring. July 2016 photo. http://www.everettrailroad.com/

Great ride and a great little engine. A friend of mine is a fireman there.
