The obvious point of this is the frustration we rail enthusiasts have when no trains are around. . .but I also see the artists we can be.

You see, I think one of the things that makes an artist an artist is the ability to see what most of us miss--think of Edward Hopper and his painting of the diner in Greenwich Village, and the old houses on a Sunday morning, indeed the whole "ashcan school" that saw something significant and worthy in the common world, including the industrial world and the world of railroads.

Thanks for mentioning The Trackside Photographer. One of the things we try to encourage on our site is just what you are talking about. Trains are big and noisy and exciting, but the broader railroad landscape is rich with interest, waiting to be explored.
