Finally after 4 years, photos of where Great Western #51 has been hiding have emerged! A member or members of the Midwest Railway Preservation Society (care takers of GTW 4070) traveled to Hudson Colorado to do contract work on an old coach at the old Hudson Terminal Railroad shops, where 2-8-0 #51's owner John Birmingham stores his collection of locomotives and rolling stock. 51 is fully operational and is operates once a year out in the yard but that's it. Most of us know 51 for operating on the Fillmore & Western Railroad in California for 10 years. (1993-2003) Good to see she's well cared for and has a good home. I just wish Mr Birmingham would invite people or put it out in the public when he plans to steam her, but his engine so he does what he wants. These photos were pulled from their Facebook page.

I chased her in the early 1980s. First time I saw her I was driving down highway 287. Saw a blue tarp and what looked like the shape of a steam locomotive. Took the nearest exit and found #51 on a siding in Erie,Co. About two years later I chased her. Videos on my youtube channel.

If you read the original post it says John Birmingham still fires it up every year.

Jeff, while yes the locomotive is steamed up one time a year by the owner, the engine was truly last fired and actively ran in service on the Fillmore & Western in California in 2003 after the filming of the move Seabiscuit. Then the locomotive came down in need of boiler repairs and other little kinks in the lease were discussed and that prolead the engine returning to its home. Least the Fillmore & Western has #14 now but with the Ventura County Commisions plan of action to cancel the lease of the SP Santa Paula branch line between them and the F&W, the trains will all be done and history by December 1st... Which really makes me hope that there is some reasoning with the commision to rethink their decision as I'd really hate to see #14 and the rest of the equipment be scattered after so many years. Sorry for rambling off topic but we all do at some point.
