Post subject:  Run of Steam Locomotive Throttle Valve Castings - May 2024

Good Evening All,

In the coming weeks, a reputable foundry will be pouring new throttle valve castings for the Wilmington & Western No. 98, which is in the final stages of its 1472-Service Day inspection. The pattern is based on the original valve design (presumably ALCO) and measures roughly 7.5-inches in diameter by 7-inches in height. We are opening this order to the preservation community in the event other organizations might benefit.

The deadline for add-ons is May 1, 2024.

For those interested, please email the railroad directly via jscott@wwrr.com

Look for updates on the restoration over the coming weeks.

Best,

Joshua R. Scott
