Candidates Sought: Track Maintenance Supervisor Mendocino Railway is the owner/operator of passenger and freight railroads including the California Western Railroad (CWR) / Skunk Train which operates between Fort Bragg and Willits, California. The successful candidate for the position of Track Maintenance Supervisor should possess a keen eye for attention to detail with an outgoing personality and the ability to interact well with guests and the CWR/Skunk Train team. The candidate will have experience managing crews and large infrastructure projects. This hands-on position will have the ideal candidate working mostly outdoors in a variety of conditions to make every aspect of the operation safe. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Work with (in a hands-on fashon) and mentor track crew. • Coordinate and plan ordinary maintenance and program track work with other departments to maximize track work and train operations. • Coordinate an plan multi-millon dollar and multi-faceted infrastructure projects. • Monitor department finances and capital projects to meet budgetary goals and delivery schedules. • Ability to perform track inspections and monitor track inspectors to ensure quality inspection and safe train operations. • Test, monitor, and mentor supervisors, field crews, and tamper operators for adherence to track safety rules, track geometry standards, and productivity goals. • Monitor and enforce FRA compliance along with company policies, rules and standards. • Work with local, county and state agencies on railroad issues to create and continue good relations. • Plan and provide information for future track improvements. • Oversee and supervise program gangs and third party work being performed on railroad. • Manage labor, tools, materials, and equipment for field force to perform track maintenance. • Fulfilling miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by General Manager. • Willingness to travel. • Assist with special events as needed. • Assist with other duties as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS • Experience in Maintenance of Way track standards. • Prior supervisory experience. • Prior experience in track inspection, track maintenance, track construction, and equipment operation. • Familiarity with FRA track standards. • Familiarity and ability to apply safety rules and procedures. • Self-motivated and good communication skills to work with other departments and agencies. • Ability to use a computer, with knowledge in Microsoft products (Word and Excel). • Budgetary knowledge. • Monitor projects to ensure materials and resources are provided to meet schedule and budgets. • Ability to lift 50 + Lbs.
