Porter Diesel Locomotive has been sold.
Pennsylvania Trolley Museum, Inc. is offering its Porter diesel-electric locomotive number 1311 for sale. This locomotive was built in August 1942 (S/N 7384) for the U.S. Navy. From 1956 to 1998 it served a local industry in Washington County, PA. The loco is a nominal 45-ton (actual scaled weight 43 tons) center cab design with two Cummins H series engines of 150 HP each. The electric transmission is Westinghouse with two Type 189R5 main generators and two Type 1443A traction motors with side rod drive to the second axle of each truck. Aside from the substitution of later model Cummins engines in 1958/59 the loco is entirely original. The air brakes are WABCo Schedule 14-EL with train air. PTM has kept 1311 in operating condition since acquisition. Although it currently needs a new set of batteries, we can demonstrate it in operation.
$20,000 as is where is.
