Built in the 1930s to 2' 3" gauge, the rail truck is powered by a pre-1930 Model A motor and transmission with a Model T rear axle. Motor runs well and transmission and clutch appear to work fine based on tests via our short test track. Video can be seen as follows:

Heavy cast rear wheels are in excellent shape. Front wheels are railroad motor car wheels and need replacement. We replaced a crude wood engine cover with a 1931 Model A hood and radiator assembly. We have hood sides, but they need some modification to close properly.

The main frame is made of wood with a steel sub frame up front for the front wheels and brake gear. In truth, the wood frame needs replacement, but appears to be a straight forward job.

Body is well built. One side is in excellent condition, the other side needs siding work. Roof is covered in sheet metal but the covering needs replacement.

Narrowing to 2' gauge looks quite doable and straight forward.

Understand that the rail truck was built and ran in Brandywine, MD area. There were cars at one time that it hauled. The current body just looks like something you would see on a backwoods railroad of days past. It has a certain charm.

The total length is 12 feet, width at the roof is 5 feet, just a little less than 8' tall. Very easy to move. Maybe weighs 2000 pounds or so.

The rail truck is a strong runner, really wants to go. Would be great at its current 27" gauge for a backyard RR or regauged for use on one of many 2' gauge RR's in the country.

We are focused on the restoration of a PRR caboose and do not have the time to take this project to the next level. A lot of work has already been done but it needs a new owner to finish it up.

Asking $5000 of best offer. Some form of trade may be of interest. Open to ideas. Let us know what you have in mind.

It is located in Columbus, NJ.

Many thanks,
