Post subject:  WANTED: Parts for Semi Convertible Restoration

Hello...I'm involved with a group associated with the Hampton History Museum in Hampton Virginia that is in the process of restoring the last known streetcar that ran in Hampton and Newport News, Va. This car is car No. 390 which was built to a Baltimore design in 1917. The car ran until 1946 and was used as a home until 1977. The Baltimore Streetcar Museum then got the car and stored it until August of this year (2017) when it was donated to the Hampton History Museum. There is a web site (under an update at present) and a Facebook page for the project. Just do a search for "Streetcar 390".

The intent of the museum and our group is to restore the car as it would have appeared during the 1930's as a one man car. While we plan to restore it cosmetically we would like it to have the appearance of a operating car. We have been lucky so far and have some parts that were missing but are in need of more. We know that some parts may not be able to be found and are prepared to have replica parts made if needed. Since we are not the usual type of museum that has operating cars we don't have much in the way of something to trade and most parts will either have to be donated, bought or replicated. I am posting a list below of what we are looking for and if you have anything or know where we might find something please let me know. I'll update this list from time to time.

Also note....390 is a near duplicate of the Brill semi convertibles that were built for Baltimore in 1917 (13 window) There is one Baltimore semi convertible that still exists and luckly its a sister Baltimore car of the same design. This car is Baltimore No. 5748 at the Seashore Trolley Museum in Maine.

List to follow in my next post. Parts not listed are either being fabricated or the exact type of part is unknown at this time. Some parts we are looking for differ from what 390 and Baltimore semi convertibles had because of the difficulty finding certain parts and having to make compromises and use facsimile parts for cosmetic reasons.

Hi...I've contacted Gomaco and they are supposed to get back to me next week.
Depending on what we find or what Gomaco can do we may or may not go that
route. It will also depend on what costs are.

Hello....

Its been almost a year since i last updated this list. The car is well along
to being restored and is about 35 percent done. We have located some
parts we needed but still have a need for others. We'd like to make a trade
for parts if possible or a combination of parts trade and cash.

What we have....
1 complete GE K35 type controller with internal parts
1 Dayton headlight in very good condition (it may have never been used)
1 N.Y Brake Company M24 ? airbrake valve.
2 Bridge crane or turntable controllers (might be Westinghouse)

What we need...
1 Ohio Brass trolley catchers (not the type used on PCC cars)
or something similar like a Keystone or Trolley Supply Co. type.
2 GE MS or MR main breakers (hood switch)

8 Dayton Mfg Co. ceiling light fixtures.

We also have a need for brass walk over seat handles for H & K
seats. I'm not sure how many.

All the parts we need don't have to work. While we are planning on
getting the car as close to a running appearance as possible it will
only be a display (unless someone hits a awful big lottery and wants
to talk the City of Hampton into making it run)

So if you have some burnt out or worn out parts we can use please let me know.
I can supply pictures if needed.
