Post subject:  Short term locomotive lease

Hello,
Does anyone belong to or know of a group that might be interested in leasing a locomotive for 6 months or so. A switcher would be perfect but anything that can pull some cars would be good.

The operation is located in Badin, NC. Interchange with Winston Salem Southbound, which has NS and CSX connections.

Looking for 6 months to just get the operation started. It won't operate very much or be worked hard- we anticipate running once or twice a week. Our two engines are tied up for the next 6 months then we can send one there. We have a secure parking spot behind fencing with razor wire, lights, next to a sheriff's office, and we have our own RR police department doing patrols. Our mechanic has over 25 years experience. We will place it under our 2mil insurance policy before it leaves your facility.

All the locomotive leasing companies we have called only do a min of a year. We were hoping for something less and could put some money in an organizations pocket at the same time. We will pay shipping to and from and return it better than we got it if possible.

Any help would be appriciated!

You may want to try Morristown & Erie. I know they did a short term lease with Strasburg Rail Road with a GP9, when their switcher was in the shop for wheel work.

Also when I was the start up manager for CCET in Cincinnati, we were able to short time lease for a GP38 from RJ Corman. However everyone I dealt with at Corman at that time has moved on.

Would a 44 tonner do the job? There's one sitting in New Freedom PA. A short-term lease would be perfect.

You can call the Stewartstown Railroad at 410-336-1605 to discuss!

That one WAS being leased by Steam Into History. Has said lease expired?
