Hi all...
As work progresses on streetcar 390 (now at least 60 percent done) we are starting to put more and more parts back in the car. Going back in time a bit when 390 was taken out of service in 1946 and later sold a married couple, a Mr and Mrs Anderson bought the car body and used it as a home for 30 years. Sometime during this time one set of window sashes were removed and along with the set of sashes went the latches. We've had a new sash set made but don't have the latches. We only need one pair (1-left,1-right).

Since semi convertibles were one of Brill's most popular designs these should have been a fairly common part they made (made by Brill themselves, not Adams and Westlake) so hopefully they won't be too hard to find. (Brill built over 900 Baltimore design semi's alone which Baltimore and Hampton, Va. used)

If someone has a pair thats not being used or knows where i might find a set please let me know. I can be contacted here or thru the 390 Facebook page or my email (hank_mum@yahoo.com)

Pictures below

Thank you

Call McKinney Avenue Transit Authority at (214) 855-0006 and ask to speak to the Chief Mechanical Officer (I'm not sure who it is at this time, I'm sorry.) I seem to recall that they had a batch of these made for their Brill semi-convertible and might be willing to sell some for a good cause.

If your talking about Mata car 122 while it is a Brill semi convertible (single truck) from what i see in the interior pictures those latches are different.

Zac, those latches were very unreliable, especially as 122 got older and started sagging and swaying more. The latches would slip out of the pocket and the sash would come slamming closed, frequently on someone's arm.

In the 1993 rebuild, Ed Landrum replaced the pockets with z strip and newer style latches like on the DR&T cars. They might still have some of the ones that were replaced lying around but who knows where they are? I will look in the warehouse to see if I have any.
