Tiny 14-ton Porter standard gauge 0-4-0T that runs at Silver Bend Tree Farm, Clarksburg, Cal. This one worked at a cement works and later a tie plant in California, then spent some time at Carson City and Virginia City, Nevada. I think they have a couple of other saddletankers at Clarksburg also. Anyone have photos?

Both this one and Bechtel Kaiser Rock #1 (ALCO Cooke /66311/1926 have been pictured on past updates to "Surviving World Steam Locomotives".

The third tank engine I have listed is in fact a 15" gauge homebuilt locomotive; I believe from the Redwood Valley Railway, named "Cricket".

I have Brimstone RR Shay #35 listed in Clarksburg; is it also at Silver Bend Tree Farm?

The Brimstone Shay is located there in pieces. The former Redwood Valley "Cricket" is not a tank engine but a 12" gauge 4-4-0 that runs each year at the state fair grounds in Sacramento.
There is another tank engine located there that is operable. It is former Edison Portland Cement owned by a good friend of mine who stored it there after Railfair 99 in Sacto.
The #202 that ran in Virginia City was owned by Erich Thomson who founded the Redwood Valley Railway and built the Cricket. Hope this clears things up a bit.

I note on one site that the former Folsom Prison Cooke engine B/N 66311 is said to be there. Is it? Also, I heard a few years ago that the Greenville Gravel (Greenville, Mississippi) Cooke engine B/N 56992 was to go to Silver Bend, after some ownership by Fred Kepner. Did that happen?

As with anything that includes the name of Kepner in it, one has to wonder, and that locomotive mentioned is not at Silver Bend since my last vist there in Oct.2003
The Folsom engine you mention is a strange beast. I believe it is the one in the picture scattered along the banks for the Sacramento River near Clarksdale and was advertised for sale a couple years ago for $5,000.00 Recently there was a saddle tank up in Medford, Or. a friend of my owned but sold and am waiting a reply from him.

The folsom engine is at silverbend Bob keeps it tucked away. The greenville engine was sold for static display in Washington State for a campground. Kepner never had a hand in it.

I have picture of the Edison Cement engine taken at Railfair, and a picture of an engine stored at Silver Bend. I have always thought that the engine stored is the Folsom engine, as stated by Roger Stabler. (I believe it is missing it's saddle tank.)

So what is the engine in the picture? I doubt he took the Folsom engine apart, and scattered it like the one in your picture.

I wish I knew what engine that is in the picture. It is still sitting on the side of the Yolo Shortline near Clarksburg.

I finally had a chance to look at the picture I have of Cooke #66311. It does indeed look like the one you photographed dumped in the brush.

If you want to send me your e-mail address off-line, I will send you the picture I have, and let you compare for yourself. If it is the same engine; the only thing I figure out is that he shoved it out from under cover to make room for Louis Chiaramonte's Edison Portland Cement Vulcan.

The Cooke has been further dismantled since Scott Wickert photographed it in during the late 1990s; at that time, it still had it's smokestack and cab in place.

Just curious, what became of the locomotives mentioned in this post.
Mainly, the #202 tank? The newest information I could find was that it was trucked to Auburn, CA in 2012 for a festival.

Okay, I'll take a stab at this. Info is from the Steamlocmotive.com and .info lists.

Pacific Portland Cement 202 (Porter 1913) is at the Roots Of Motive Power museum in Willits, CA. It is listed as privately owned.

Henry J. Kaiser 1 (Alco 1926) is also at the Roots Of Power museum.

Greenville Gravel 2 (Alco 1917) is on display in Yelm, WA.

Brimstone Shay 35 is still at Silver Bend Farms, Clarksburg, CA.

I think this one is headed for Australia. (This is the only locomotive I could find info on).
