Way back around 1980, I remember an article in Yankee magazine about selling the Narragansett Pier for $100 grand. They showed pictures of a 2-truck ex military diesel switcher and a 4-wheel mechanical switcher. There was still a 2-6-0, a caboose and a parlor car on the property too. On a family vacation, we visited Peacedale, RI, I saw the caboose, parlor and a boxcar on the property. After reading the history of the railroad, I suspected that a McKeen car power truck lied off in the weeds. Standard railroad crossing markers were triangular and said "Look out for the trains." I though that I was seeing a rare remnant of the late 1800s at the time.
I am now curious what has happened to the above equipment, and the neat stations and grounds of the NPRR. There just are not things like this in the 2000's if I guess correctly.
Olin.
