As new engines left the Baldwin Locomotive Works, were the builders plates simply a polished brass or was there a color painted on them?<p>The engine number plate on the front of the smokebox was what color(s)--I am referring to the "stock" BLW engine number plates and not any special ordered plate that some roads had.<br>
