PostPosted: Sat Jun 12, 1999 4:38 am

The following message is from the Railpace Newsmagazine Website, and it originanted from John Mech and his Alco Alert webpage. What this post dosen't include, however, is the unit's ownership history between the NYNH&H and where ever it is now. Does anybody out there know this?
ALCO ALERT: The Danbury Railway Museum is trying to save a Former NEW HAVEN RAILROAD RS-11 # 1402 from the scrapper. The Museum recently learned that a company in Georgia was planning to strip the RS-11 for parts to use on their other RS-11's. Fast action by Museum member Ron Freitag prevented this from happening....for now. The Company has agreed to hold the Alco until funds were raised to purchase it. The Museum needs $ 18,000 to buy it plus another estimated $6,000 to move it to the museum site. THEY NEED YOUR HELP !!! Any size donation can help save this Historic RS-11 This is the ONLY NEW HAVEN RAILROAD Alco RS-11 in existence. The unit is fully operational and equipped with roller bearing trucks which could provide the means of running fan trips. HOW CAN YOU HELP? Send a donation to: The Danbury Railway Museum, P.O. Box 90, Danbury, CT 06813. Make the check out to the Danbury Railway Museum and mark in the memo: RS-11 Fund (John Mech - posted 2/08)
