 Post subject: RELCO HIGH HOODS-- DL&W 409 sold

Looks like RELCO continues to cut loose is old Alco High Hoods. Does anybody know what Joseph Behr and Sons, Inc. purchaset of the former DL&W 409 will do with the engine (hoping no torches will be involved)

I don't know the overall condition of this engine but it seems like it would have been a good candidate for Delaware-Lackawanna Railway in Scranton, with their obvious emphasis on and love for ALCO's. It would make a good companion to their ancient EMC SW1.

Yes it might have except fot the fact that the 426 generally does not operate very much. 600 HP doesn't pull many loaded 110 ton grain hoppers which is the D-L's bread and butter these days.

How many of these ALCO High Hoods does Relco have left? And didn't they donate one to a museum a while ago?

AT one time "tard limit" showed about 10 of these. It appears from the link I embedded in the first message on this that they have 2 left, with only one destined for preservation.
