Have been wondering what railroad museums, historical societies, and other private groups have an on-going TEA-21 project.<p>Already know about Mid-Continent and Ft. Wayne Historical Society. I think the Minnesota Transportation Museum might have one. SRM has one. Who else? Have been wondering how much of the TEA-21 money is getting to rail museums and how much is going to cities and counties for other kinds of projects.<p>Will appreciate any info y'all have.<p>--Malcolm<br>

NC Transportation Museum has been very sucessful and effective in obtaining funds from ISTEA and TEA 21 over the past few years. Perhaps they would be willing to share their techniques, or comment as to whether their being a state museum was of any benefit VS a private non profit.<p>Dave<br>

The Central Oklahoma Chapter of the NRHS has applied for a Tea-21 Grant to move the last existing turntable in Oklahoma from the old Frisco yard to its Oklahoma Railway Museum grounds. State DOT says awards will be given in June 00. Most applications are for trails, parks, etc. But there are a few railroad related request.<br>

Project 2497(the 3rd ex-sp 4-6-2 in the Bay Area) has a TEA grant for the moving of the ex-SP roundhouse and Turntable to the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds (south of San Fransisco, CA)<br><br>

The California Trolley and Railroad Corporation received a TEA grant for $1m to cover the restoration of the San Jose Roundhouse and turntable at a new location at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds--that project is currently in progress. The centerpiece at the roundhouse will be the restored Pacific P-10--2479 (still undergoing restoration). Deconstruction permits for the removal of the roundhouse are being secured from the City of San Jose (the 3rd largest city in California) by Union Pacific and the relocation is scheduled to take place sometime mid-year.<br><br>

Actually there were 15 P-8's built in or about 1921. They were numbered by SP -- 2461-2475. Fourteen P-10's were built 1923-24 and were numbered 2478 - 2491. Ergo, 2479 is a P-10! <br>
