That’s a cool project. Yes, ideally it would have been saved for railroad preservation but this is way better than having it torn down and a creative use of the space. |

Recently up there and checked it out, and while it is a historic railroad maintenance facility, there's no reason to consider it as a likely candidate for its use to be preserved based on the overall repurposing of the J&L site which doesn't allow for its being connected, and the adaptive reuse is pretty well sympathetic to the structure itself. If you want to preserve a historic railroad structure in Pittsburgh, the WABCO plant in Wilmerding is being emptied and might be worth consideration..... don't know if there's anything in the works for it right now. |
