Post subject: | Strates Shows sleepers |
Hi all, I am seeking information on the disposition of several sleeping cars Strates Shows purchased from the EL in the 70s. My researches online have shown they were replaced by several converted coaches from IC in the 80s, but I cannot find any info on them after that. Basically just looking for confirmation they were scrapped so can end my research. Thanks :) |

For those keeping score at home, EL had withdrawn its last Through Line passemger service, No. 5 & 6 The Lake Cities, on Jan. 5, 1970. The Strates Shows train was in NEPA (I believe Buttonwood Yard, Wilkes-Barre) when Hurricane Agnes flooded the entire Valley in June, 1972. Strates retired its train and EL took the Strates people to Susquehanna PA where the Through Line cars were stored. Yes, this is the same Flood that inundated Strasburg 2-6-0 89 Phil Mulligan |
