I am desperately trying to find information of both of these styles of spark arrestor seen below. I have never turned up such a blank researching anything as I have with these.

Any kind of builder information, spec sheets, manuals, anything would b a huge help. The top one was offered in both a "geep" and a "switcher" size.

Thanks

Start here: https://www.fs.usda.gov/t-d/pubs/html/03511308/03511308.htm#Guide and check out the file which is out of date but may be helpful.

Thanks for the link Mike, but unfortunately no, that does not help. That only mentions the Hapco external arrestors, who is one of/the only people making them today. These are out of the 1960's/70's.

All I can tell you that the top one is "lifting" and the bottom "non-lifting". I don't know if EMD made them or bought them from a supplier. Preston might know if he checks this thread. I do know you can buy them in HO scale but likely not much help, either.

I have access to a set on an ex GTW SW9. I believe the tags are still attached to them. I know they do a good job of accumulating oil from wet stacking and making a mess of the stacks.

If by chance you could get a photo of the tags and a few basic measurements of them (overall height of the arrestor, the base width/length and the height of just the square base) that would be swell!

Thanks!
