The Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation announced [on Feb. 2nd] that it had negotiated a letter of intent with Norfolk Southern Corp. to purchase for $23 million the 48-mile [railroad] corridor which stretches from Front Royal to Broadway[, Virginia]. In addition, the foundation has partnered with the Virginia Military Institute engineering department to explore solutions to potential design challenges.
