Post subject:  Rainy day at EBT

For years -literally more than 50 of them, I've been told "You have to go to the East Broad Top", "You don't wanna miss the East Broad Top", "Oh the East Broad Top is the most amazing...". Well I finally got there and - they were right. I was raining like a cow peein' on a flat rock but my buddy and I rode. It's a restoration miracle in small town Pennsylvania.

Not only is Mikado #16 nearly perfect in every way, the track and R.O.W. are clean and cut back, surrounded by fields of silage and sunflowers. The ride is a perfect length and the wyes at the current terminals make it possible to watch the locomotive in action. The station end is clean and clear of obstructions, restrooms are available, and picnic grove at the opposite end is sheltered and large. Passenger cars are new builds, while the yard is filled with old (very old) coal hoppers. I might point out the end of town where one catches the train resembles small town America around 1956, at least in my eyes.

Put the EBT on your bucket list for sure.
