My wife and I were scheduled to go the S.Africa just after the Covid lock down was put in place. In subsequent conversations with a couple that are our long time friends we've cancelled the trip. They were business owners of an enterprise out side Cape Town that they had built up over 30 years in business which they have sold and moved back to the UK.

They warned us that the country is in terrible shape, with the crime rate in major cities out of control and in their opinion the nation is only 3/5 years away from being a failed state.

Needless to say we'll heed their warning and seek better places to enjoy steam.
