I recently discovered that Epic Systems of Verona, WI has a Swedish passenger at its HQ. I was in the Madison area earlier this month, so I made a visit to get some photos.
It is currently painted and dressed to look like a Hogwarts Express car.

Does anyone know where this car came from? I initially thought it came from the Belfast & Moosehead Lake Railway in Maine; but it also could have come from the Hull–Chelsea–Wakefield Railway in Quebec.

Trucks are marked SJ 10601 and SJ 9917? Not sure how to decipher these? I can provide photos of the trucks if they may give away lineage.

That one doesn't look as though it has got corrugated or ribbed sides which the photos I took on the Hull-Chelsea-Wakefield line seemed to have....


They all had a/c units fitted to the roof as well.

Actually, looking at the photos in the first post again, it does look like the ribs have been painted which helped disguise them

Whilst it may look a bit out of place in Wisconsin, it's no worse than that pair of British Railways Mk 1 carriages at that museum in Michigan!

On the markings...SJ is Swedish Rail. A number of years ago we were in Sweden seeing friends, one of whom was a senior official with the railroad. My wife's initials are SJ, so laughed about all of her rail equipment. One day, we were allowed in the railroad's warehouse and told to grab a few of their blankets which were not the current style. Thus we now have SJ blankets at the house.

I have roster equipment somewhere in my files and will see if I can find the car info.

At Epic systems that sort of question is not voiced nor even inferred. If the lady that owns the company wants something it is simply "Yes, Ma'am", the money appears and the task is done...........mld

Google Earth shows that the car in question was moved to Verona sometime between 2014 and September 2017. I believe the Hull-Chelsea-Wakefield equipment was not disposed of until 2019, and while one car was not cut up the new owner planned to keep it in the area.

Actually, SJ is the abbreviation for State's Iron. It's owned by the country of Sweden and older than steel.

Good to see this car is Bjorn again in Wisconsin.

I thought it was supposed to mean something like 'Government Iron Roads' (with the same shade of meaning that 'high iron' has today in the United States).

With 'roads' meaning 'ways' semantically, same as a 'railway' vs. 'railroad'.
